Cute Alien Greeting Cards

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, November 05, 2016 0 comments
I just got these stamps from Gerda Steiner Designs and I had to stop with holiday ideas so I could make a few cards with this cute set! I am a big sci-fi fan so of course space ships and cute little aliens are right up my alley. I can't wait until I have some more time to play with this set!

On all the cards I used: Tim Holtz distress inks for the galaxies, Canson XL Mixed Media paper, Versafine Ink, and Recollections Paper and embossing powders. Dies are by Paper Smooches, and Spellbinders Celebrations. I also was inspired by Cartwright's Sequins to use sequins in the shaker card.

Quick Brown Bag Halloween Mini-Album Part 2

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, October 29, 2016 0 comments
One last Halloween surprise!

For this mini-album, I added tags as I always do from left over scraps; they always make such nice papers and you can never feel guilty for wasting paper! I also used the Boo Collection by Recollections.

Quick Brown Bag Halloween Mini-Album Part 1

Posted by Amanda at Monday, October 24, 2016 0 comments

Happy (almost) Halloween!

I found a few banners and spooky tags I the dollar bin at Target so I got the idea of using them to make some quick Halloween brag books. Here are some of the supplies "before":

I used the idea of the lunchback album from a really wonderful tutorial by Pinkscrapper99 on Youtube (thank you for your inspiration!). This brown lunch bag brag book was made from dollar bin banners and tags that I found. I also used Graphic 45's An Eerie Tale. With this book I added an extra little flip to make it a little more interactive.

Peeps-inspired Easter Sticker Card

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, September 10, 2016 0 comments
Even though it was after Easter, I had to make this card! It's made out of clearance stickers and cardstock from Michaels. I think the bunnies are so cute - the shape and color reminds me of Peeps! Now I have plenty of Easter cards for next year.

First Attempt - Mixed Media

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, September 03, 2016 0 comments
Just a quick update this week - here is my first attempt at mixed media. I used a texture paste that I made myself. Trying my hand at it (on a small scale).

Have a good week!

Spring & Easter Greeting Cards

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, August 27, 2016 0 comments
Hello again!

I wanted to try my hand at making some quick cards with just some of the pretty paper I had laying around. I found my 6x6 big stack from Recollections with a 180 papers called Blossoms and Bliss. I only had time to make two, but I cant wait to have another try at it soon. I just added a layer of black card stock behind it and the card base was pink cardstock (Recollections also) - then stamped some simple flowers with a 'Thank You' on a piece of white cardstock 1 3/4 by 2 3/4, backed it in black. Inside I used some of the left over paper as a side border just for a touch of color. Simple and quick!

Party Girl Dress Card

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, August 20, 2016 0 comments
Here is another card made from using a value card pack from Michaels. I just popped up one of the dresses, used some glitter paper and embossing powde,r and did the some kind of accent on the inside of the card. They always turn out cute and are very quick to make - that's why I have way too many note cards. Maybe some day I'll get them all made. Thanks for looking and I'd love to hear your comments!

Harry Potter Birthday Card

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, August 13, 2016 0 comments

I had to make a birthday card and I wanted a Harry Potter  theme but its very hard to find HP inspired paper anymore, so I kind of did my own thing! The brick paper I had in my stash and I used a Kraft cardstock. The Happy Birthday is from a stamp I've had for years, and the phone box is a Deep Red cling stamp;  the lampost was from Bo Bunny's set 'Gateways'. I cut the Muggle out from my Big Shot and the numbers and letters die is from Momenta. This card made a muggle very happy!

Recycled Mini-Album

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, August 06, 2016 0 comments
Woo hoo weekend!

I wanted to try my hand at an accordion album since I had seen so many of them on Pinterest. I decided to make one of my own using a little photo album I had bought on sale for $5 a while ago. I loved the cover so much but the inside was very cheaply made ... So I gutted the pages inside! I used black cardstock for my base pages and covered them with The Butterfly Garden paper from DCWV, and put a few small flip pages in it for some interaction. It was very quick to make and I think they would make nice gifts. I definitely want to try to make another one!

Let me know what you think!

Happy Birthday Cake Cards

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, July 30, 2016 0 comments
Cake, anyone?

I love getting those $1.50 card packs at Micheals and turning them into different cards, complete with matching envelopes for matting. These two were made with some paper from my stash along with some pop dots. I then used a Lawn Fawn 'Happy Birthday' stamp inside - simple and sweet!

I used the little cake that was on the back of the original Michael's note card, fussy cut i,t and added a pierced rectangle from my Spellbinders die set to write on. I just love to do this!

Spring Accordion Mini-Album

Posted by Amanda at Saturday, July 23, 2016 0 comments
Hello and Happy Saturday!

This is another accordion album I made from scratch. It measures 9x7 with a 1 1/2" spine. I used left over file folders for the base pages and covered them with a ColorBok paper stack I got at Walmart for $5 called Mint Julep - such a very pretty stack and I loved the big flowers! I glittered up the flowers using my WOW embossing pen and some WOW sparkling embossing powder. This time I made a double flip page to hold more pictures.

Here are a few highlights.

Kitty Cat Greetings

Posted by Amanda at Tuesday, July 19, 2016 0 comments
Long time no post! I guess the older I get, the harder it is to work nights! I've still been crafting on my Saturdays, however. I've enlisted the help of my daughter to photograph what I've been working on and quite a few posts are queued now for the future.
On to the cards!

I was busy last month making some thank you cards for my daughter to hand out at her work. I decided to use these really cute cat stamps I just ordered – CoolCat Clear Stamp set by My Favorite Things from SimonSaysStamps. I've really fallen in love with stamping lately and I'm trying not to go crazy, but there are so many cute stamps out there! I try to buy stamps that I know I can use multiple times. I seem to be leaning towards clean design and I love the look of watercolor and colored pencils. There are some pretty (but pricey) watercolor sets out there but those may have to wait for Christmas! Right now I am using Recollections watercolor and pencils from Michaels. I feel like I've already learned a lot thanks to Youtubers using Tim Holtz distress inks. The colored pencils are Prisma from Walmart – 24pack at a pretty good price!

The gang is all together.

On the left: I really like how this turned! I cut cut a frame window from my Spellbinders pierced die rectangles and used a flower and vase from a Belle&Boo stamp I had gotten years ago.

On the right: I used the paw stamp in the set to accent the paper. I cut a circle with my Big Shot and a circle frame die from Sizzix. The pierced rectangle came from a Spellbinders die. The cloud paper was from my stash and the 'thanks' stamp is another one from the OTC company. Added a few star sequins and a bit of Wink of Stella on the clouds (new favorite!).

On the left: I love this kitty, it looks just like my rescued baby Noxie so of course I had to do her in black watercolor. The congrats stamp came from a set from Oriental Trading Company - they have quiet a few nice sentiment stamp sets!

Last but not least: This was my retro kitty - well that's how I saw her. The 'Thank You' also came from OTC and I just used half of a border stamp I had to make the shelf. Pop dot for the vase on the shelf. Pretty simple, and a little Wink of Stella on the pillow of course.
Simple & cute on the inside.
Hope you like! Can't wait to use these again.
